Have you ever just wanted to get on your bike and cycle, discovering the world around you at your own pace. The simplicity of bike travel is one of the greatest joys, it doesn't have to be a huge multi-month adventure to be fun, some of the best experiences can be found in your own backyard.
This week Natalie shares her "I Found" story. Cycle touring and hiking what an awesome way to discover the great outdoors.
Name: Natalie
Hometown:Melbourne, Australia
What ACTIVE have you found? Hiking & Cycle touring
How did you find your ACTIVE? Definitely talking to other people, learning what opportunities are out there, their experiences and recommendations.
What do you love about your ACTIVE? Without a doubt - being outside. Getting out of the city and being in nature, away from the traffic, and amongst the swooping magpies and mud. Nothing beats the clarity of mind that fresh air and expertise bring.
What pulled/drew you to your ACTIVE? Challenging myself physically, but also the adventure of discovering new areas in Australia and overseas.
What surprises did you find along the journey? What my body can actually do. I often underestimated my capabilities and my mind was my own worse enemy. I often surprised myself by just pushing a little further.
What were the challenges getting started? I like comfort, particularly warmth. Getting out in the cold is the hardest step for me.
How do you keep yourself motivated? It's good to always have a bigger goal to work towards. Whether it's a transnational cycle or a multi-day hike.
What was one thing that was holding you back from your ACTIVE?Excuses in my head.
If you could share one piece of inspiration to those finding their ACTIVE and staying motivated, what would it be? Do what you enjoy.
Who inspired you to find your ACTIVE? Hearing stories of adventures from everyday people.
